Brandon Ward finishes a strong 4th at Newport's Daniel Boone Classic

After a dismal qualifying effort of 24th Brandon Ward was able to negotiate the high banked speedway for a strong 4th place finish. Ward was the Hard Charger of the race, bettering his position by 20 spots. "We struggled all weekend looking for speed" said Jeff Day owner and crew chief. "After time trials the crew went to work and we made some drastic changes to the setup. I can't say enough for these guys here and at the shop that worked so hard to give us the equipment we need." continued Day. "Brandon did a excellent job getting through the field and who knows with one more caution we might could have challenged for the win. states Day. The 4th place finish for the Yarbrough Transfer Company, Piedmont Paint Warehouse, Miller Welder Chevrolet is the best this season with Brandon Ward splitting his time between USAR and PASS. "I think we are close to a win over here in the PASS series." said Brandon Ward from Winston-Salem NC. "Our next race will be at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Labor Day weekend, we have tested there twice and Al (Hartman) has got our body where it needs to be speed wise there on that big track. There's nothing I would like better than to win that first race there for Jeff and everyone who works so hard on this team." continued Ward. The Labor Day Classic at North Wilkesboro Speedway marks the return of racing to the Wilkes County speedplant since the last Winston Cup race was held there in 1996.
